Motown HOG Newsletter – April 2012

QUICK REMINDERS: We have our first Bike Nite on Wednesday the 25th, then the Intro Ride on the 28th.  Let’s hope we have excellent riding weather!
Here are some highlights we covered during our last meeting…
  • Boz started off the meeting saying the Memorial Ride was changed to Saturday May 5th instead of the 6th since Biker Bob’s is closed on Sundays.
  • Kiz introduced our new members right away. We had 3 join us, plus another couple from last month who were able to come to the meeting this month.  We now have 111 active members!
  • Rich reminded us again about the Michigan state HOG Rally in Kalamazoo Aug 16-18.
  • Neil mentioned that March was the best month in Biker Bob’s history. He thanked everyone for their support to the dealership. He mentioned their new ‘Learn to Ride’ program and said the price was lowered to $199. What a deal!
  • Neil also spoke briefly about Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary next year. They are planning a “massive party” in Milwaukee over Labor Day weekend 2013, and a rally in Rome in June. Next year will also be the 30th anniversary of the Harley Owners Group.
  • Chris Baxter told us Bike Nites begin April 25th and the first 3 locations are now on the calendar.
  • Grumpy talked about a record-setting dirt track champion.
  • Tom “Snave” gave us some reminders on the hand signals, to watch closely for things in the road, and be sure to keep yourself viewable in the rear-view mirror or driver-side mirror of the car in front of you.  A hand signals flyer is now shown on the Safety page.
  • Diane said that LOH wil be holding a breakfast for the Memorial Ride and reminded us to sign up for the Progressive Dinner ride.
  • Mark updated the events list and told us about a few time changes.
  • Photographer John, talked about the Journey ride to Sturgis, MI.  He said we will be stopping for lunch at a half way point for anyone who prefers a 1 day ride instead of the whole weekend.
  • Terri said our new Forum is live and ready for action. This is where you can interact with each other, connect together for rides, or discuss anything Harley. You can access the forum at this link: www.Motownhog.com/Forum/. You will need to register with a valid email address and create a username before you can begin posting.
  • Bruce Charlton was picked as the Member of the Month, Linda Lezotte won the 50/50 drawing and Patty King won the free T-shirt.
